Credit repair information and tips you can use

Have you recently been denied a loan, home, mortgage, or credit card? You may need information and advice on repairing your credit. A credit inquiry is usually an indication of some bad entries on your credit report, which can happen under two conditions.

The first is that you are not managing your credit properly, which includes overusing your available credit. Often times, your credit report contains incorrect information, which negatively affects your credit score.

Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, it’s important to start repairing your credit as soon as possible. A little personal coaching goes a long way to improving your situation, so here are some credit repair tips you can use.

1. Start by requesting your credit report from all three credit bureaus. You are entitled to one free credit report from each company each year. You can also get a free credit report if your credit has been rejected within the last 60 days.

2. After you receive your report, study it carefully. You should review each account (also known as a trade mark) and call any that are incorrect, which harms your credit rating. Amazing mistakes are common.

3. After identifying the trade line as an incorrect entry, contact the credit bureau and request that it be deleted from your report. You start with these people because you have good reasons for conflict and you can delete them. 4. Even when you find the correct entry in your credit file, but the information is wrong in nature, you can still try to remove it. Find a good reason such as aging, which means resetting the date of the account, which is common with debt collectors.

5. Make sure all your correspondence with payees is by registered mail. You may not want to do this to the credit bureaus as it raises a red flag because this is what credit repair companies advise their clients to do. 6. The law gives 30 days for anything to happen. If the credit bureau finds that the entries are incorrect or the debtor cannot verify the account, it will need to be deleted.

Just know that credit repair is not a quick fix, or a one-day deal. It requires patience and courage.

There isn’t enough credit repair information that doesn’t tell you what to do. People with poor credit scores often try drastic measures to repair their credit and are often misreported, which ends up damaging their credit even more. Here are some things you can’t do to improve your credit:

1. New credit file or split file: Many fake credit repair companies lure people with false promises and bad information about credit repair, such as telling them they can create a new credit file. This is also known as illegal file sharing. 2. Many credit repair companies claim that they can repair credit by removing negative information from their credit report, thereby improving their rating. Now, that’s not guaranteed. You must first understand the process of deleting messages. No one can remove bad things from your credit report except your credit officers and creditors.

3. Don’t close old active accounts: If you have active credit accounts, don’t close them. Keep them paying on time as they help build your credit report and raise your credit score

4. Don’t pay up front for credit repair if you use a credit repair service. Asking for installments for credit repair is illegal. They may be charging you for a legitimate service they have provided. Don’t be lured into a contract that promises to fix your credit before the job is done.
